7 Safe Halloween Activities for Kids in & around Aurora

When Halloween falls on a weekend, as it does this year, there is a sharp increase in the amount of holiday mischief which can trigger a rise in careless accidents. Families in the Copperleaf Community however, can rest easy as there are plenty of safe Halloween activities for kids and families in and around Aurora and Centennial.  Many of these kid-friendly events are taking place throughout the month so you and your family can get multiple uses out of your clever Halloween costumes.

Boo Bash and Mall-Wide Trick-Or-Treat

Starting at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, Town Center at Aurora hosts a kid-friendly Halloween event complete with face painting, a costume contest, photo booths, and of course, trick or treating throughout the mall. Additionally, Aurora Police Department representatives will be there to answer parents’ questions about Halloween safety. Check-in for this event at the Town Center’s Center Court.

Halloween Trick or Treat Trail

On Saturday, October 31, spend the morning at Southlands trick-or-treating with your family on Main Street. Bring along non-perishable food items to donate to the SHARE Project, and receive free trick-or-treat bags for your little ones. Southlands will also host a variety of activities and games for families to participate in on Halloween.

Trick or Treat on Mainstreet

Hosted by the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club on Main Street in Old Town Parker, take your children trick or treating in a safe environment starting at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. This event also boasts live character appearances, carnival-style games, and plenty of photo-worthy moments. Begin this community tradition in O’Brien Park and don’t worry about the traffic as the Parker Police Department will be on-hand keeping you and your family safe throughout the evening.

Tagawa Gardens

Looking for an event for the whole family? Then Tagawa Gardens is the place for you. Each weekend in October they will be hosting a multitude of activities in including the Pumpkin Festival, pony rides, face painting, balloon animals, and so much more. The Pumpkin Festival runs each weekend until October 25. Each day will also include featured free events like guinea pig races on Saturdays and Top Hogs the Performing Pigs on Sunday October 25. Trick or Treat Street

Starting Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, families can enjoy The Children’s Museum Trick or Treat Street. With a monster carnival, numerous treat houses, and a wide selection of Halloween arts and crafts, there’s something for everyone at The Children’s Museum for this spooktacular holiday.

Boo at the Zoo

Taking place over two weekends (October 24-25 and October 31-November 1), the Denver Zoo’s annual trick-or-treating event is a must for any family in the Denver metro area. On top of the 25 trick or treat stations kids can visit, Boo at the Zoo also hosts live animal demonstrations and family-oriented entertainment. Trick or Treat Train

The Colorado Railroad Museum hosts its annual family-friendly Halloween event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. In addition to trick or treating, kids can enjoy a variety of Halloween-themed events that promise to be fun and festive, rather than spooky or scary. The museum also has its very own pumpkin patch for everyone to enjoy!

Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms’ Corn Maze

Open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through November 1, this eight acre corn maze in Littleton is not to be missed. Take a hayride, hop on a barrel train, jump on a giant pillow, and for a little extra, ride a pony or romp around in a hamster ball after exploring this incredible corn maze. As this is a family-friendly attraction, the maze is not “haunted” in any way so all children can enjoy it.
